Lynx drop pair to second-place Becker

SOMERVILLE, MA -- Lesley baseball dropped the first two games of its three-game set with Becker College, 7-1 and 10-2, Saturday afternoon at Trum Field.

Hawks outfielder Todd Tompkins (West Haven, CT/West Haven) went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in the opener and 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and RBI and another run scored in Game 2.

Becker's balanced attack saw six players drive in a run in both games, including right fielder Manny Sanchez (Porterville, CA/Monache), who went a combined 4-for-8 with 5 RBIs on the afternoon as the Hawks improved to 21-9 on the season, 13-5 in NECC play.

For Lesley, Peter Plansky (Litchfield, CT/Campbell) tied a career-high with three hits, going 3-for-3 with an RBI, in the opener, while Ryan Genua (Prospect, CT/Woodland) collected a pair of hits in Game 2. Leadoff hitter Greg Anglin (Milton, MA/Milton) capped his hot April by scoring both Lynx runs in Game 2.

Becker's Errick Maddern (Londonberry, NH/Londonberry) struck out seven in picking up the win in Game 1, while lefty Jake Chase (Exeter, NH/Exeter) scattered five hits over five innings for the victory in Game 2.

Lesley travels to Becker for the Lynx 2011 finale on Sunday at noon.
