CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- Four different Lynx tallied two hits a piece but Lesley left seven on base and got only three runs out of 11 hits in its 12-3 loss at Newbury Wednesday evening at Boston College's Shaw Field.

Aided by four Lynx errors, Newbury's 11 hits, meanwhile, turned into 12 Nighthawks runs as the team improved to 16-13 and 7-6 in New England Collegiate Conference play.

Andrew Colon went 2-for-3 for the Lynx (0-20, 0-10 NECC), Aqib Shah and Peter Plansky each went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Noah Shaw went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Shaw's strong outing on the mound in which he struck out nine went for naught, as his defense helped allow four unearned runs over his six inning as the lefty took the loss.

Two Lynx errors in the fourth inning allowed three unearned runs, opening a 5-0 Newbury lead, but Lesley answered with a run in the fifth, sixth and eighth. A Jeff Landry opposite-field single scored Shaw in the fifth, Shah doubled home Ryan Genua an inning later, and Plansky knocked home Shah with a double in the eighth.

Leading 7-3, Newbury busted the game open with five, four earned, off Landry in the bottom of the eighth. Two-run doubles from Daniel Kovner and Patrick Curry expanded the Nighthawks lead to 12-3, which would be the final from Chestnut Hill.

Lynx outfielder Greg Anglin went hitless for the first time in almost two weeks, as Lesley's longest hitting streak of the season was snapped at seven games.

The Lynx return with two games at Mitchell College on Friday starting at 11 a.m. and complete the three-game set against the Mariners with Lesley's home game on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Trum Field in Somerville.
