SOMERVILLE, MA – Untimely errors were unfortunately the theme for Lesley, as four Lynx errors led to four unearned Owls runs in Maine-Presque Isle's 5-0 win over the Lynx Friday night at Trum Field.  

            Lynx starter Greg Anglin (Milton, MA/Milton) was on point in the early going, freezing a pair of Owls in a 1-2-3 first and inducing a ground out in escaping a bases-loaded jam in the second.

            A single and a pair of one-out walks caught up with the lefty in the fourth. With the bases loaded, he misplayed a comebacker that scored a run. After striking out Corey Harding looking, a two-out Jeff Landry throwing errors led to two more Owls crossing the plate. In all, Presque Isle scored three unearned runs on only one hit, taking a 3-0 lead mid-fourth.

            That would be it for Anglin, who departed after four innings of two-hit ball, having labored through six walks leading to three runs – none earned. Ryan Genua (Prospect, CT/Woodland) relieved Anglin, going four innings, scattering six hits, fanning eight, allowing only one run, but a 4-0 deficit was too much for the Lynx to overcome against Owls starter Dylan Worster, who baffled Lesley batters all night.

            The freshman right-hander went nine innings in hurling a four-hit shutout, overcoming four of his own team's errors and striking out five as UMPI won for the second time in three games.

            Unlike Anglin, Worster had lady luck on his side, as two late-inning Lynx rallies were halted in their infancy by line-drive, inning-ending double plays.

            At the plate, Lesley's Andrew Colon (Chelsea, MA/Chelsea) went 1-for-3, and Nick Dolan (Strafford, NH/Bishop Brady) went 1-for-2.

            Lesley (0-12) takes the weekend off, returning to action at home against Lasell on Tuesday. UMPI (3-14) continues its six-game, three-day road swing with doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday against Fisher College in Lynn, MA.
