Lions walk off in bottom of ninth, 4-3, over Lynx

MALDEN, MA -- Lesley dropped a hard-fought 4-3 game to Emerson Wednesday night in non-conference baseball play.

Starter Noah Shaw went the distance for the Lynx, allowing four runs, two earned, and striking out a career-high 11 in his team-high third complete game of the season.

With the game tied 3-3 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Lions got the game-winning single from left fielder Peter Maltzan to walk off with the 4-3 win.

Lesley battled back late from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the eighth. After Greg Anglin singled and scored in the seventh, shortstop Aqib Shah tripled home right fielder Ryan Genua to make it a 3-2 game.

One batter later, catcher Jeff Gonzalez's sacrifice fly to right field scored Shah, tying the game at 3-3 after eight.

Shaw retired the side in order in the Emerson half of the eight, then the Lynx stranded Shaw at first in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the inning, two walks gave way to a pair of singles, including the two-out game-winner.

Genua, Shah and Shaw all went 2-for-4 at the plate for Lesley.

The Lynx play host to the University of Maine-Presque Isle Friday night at 7:00.
