Lynx drop pair to Eagles in NECC play

Lynx drop pair to Eagles in NECC play

NASHUA, NH -- First-place Daniel Webster (10-4, 5-2) earned a pair of wins over Lesley, 12-1 and 9-0, Sunday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference baseball play.

Former Eagle Peter Plansky went 3-for-6 with a double for the Lynx (0-10, 0-4 NECC), going 2-for-3 in Game 1.

Big innings for Daniel Webster led to crooked numbers on the Eagles side of the scoreboard and sizable deficits facing the Lynx in both games. A two-run Darrik Marstaller triple sparked a six-run second inning that put Daniel Webster comfortably in front at 8-0 in Game 1. Eagles starter Korey LaLievre ruled out any idea of a Lynx comeback, holding the visitors to three hits over six shutout innings in his team's 12-0 win.

Daniel Webster followed its three-run first with four in the second to put the Lynx in an early 7-0 hole in Game 2. Kory Kiro gave the Eagles seven innings of five-hit shutout ball in earning the win, while Lesley's offense consisted of a sixth inning Jeff Gonzalez single that scored Lynx starter Ryan Genua, who gave up four earned in five innings to take the loss.

Lesley returns to play in non-league action at Anna Maria on Wednesday.
