CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University Director of Athletics Dan Campagna has announced the launch of the Lesley Athletics Hall of Fame, with the inaugural induction to take place later this year.
"This was a great year for Lesley and we want to continue on that positive momentum by honoring folks who played an important role in helping put Lesley Athletics on the map," said Campagna. "An Athletics Hall of Fame is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the tremendous accomplishments and history of our programs while paying homage to some Lynx legends."
Campagna first shared the news publicly at the LES-ley Awards Banquet on Monday, May 6, 2024, and has since gone on to publish the Lesley University Hall of Fame By-Laws in which the department and Hall of Fame committee will follow to launch and induct the first class this fall.
"We're excited to make the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony an annual event that corresponds with our Athletics Alumni Weekend," said Campagna. "This is a big step in our growth as a department and a great opportunity to reconnect with our Lynx alumni network."
The Hall of Fame By-Laws state:
The Lesley University Athletics Hall of Fame honors members of Lesley Athletics for outstanding achievement in competition and/or service, dedication, and commitment to LU athletics. Operating under the authority of Lesley University, the Athletics Hall of Fame Committee selects and inducts individuals and teams worthy of recognition while upholding the integrity of the institution and its athletics program.
Two types of nominations may be submitted for consideration including an individual nomination and a team nomination.
Individual nominations may include former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, staff/faculty members and alums/contributors. Nominations will also be considered for posthumous candidates as well as individuals with 40+ years of alumni contributions.
Team nominations will focus on a singular season for a specific sport program that displayed extraordinary performance and success in competition and beyond.
Nominees will be solicited from:
- Lesley Alumni
- Current or Former Lesley University Athletic Coaches/Administrators
- Lesley Faculty, Staff, and Administrators
- Lesley University Trustee or Cabinet members
The nomination process will open annually on June 1 and the committee will accept new submissions through 11:59 PM on June 30. Nominations shall be sought by the nomination forms listed below. Nomination forms must be used for all qualified nominees. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominations shall be reviewed by the Hall of Fame committee and the Committee Chair reserves the right to advance or deny any/all nominations forward to the voting ballot based on substance of submission. In addition to the nomination form, please send supporting documentation including copies of newspaper clippings, documents, and photos. It is the nominator's responsibility to provide all requested information by the deadline. Late or incomplete nomination forms will not be considered.
