Strong Day for Women's Cross Country at ECAC's

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's cross country team posted a strong day at the ECAC Division III Championships this afternoon hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. Sophomore Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) led the Lynx once again with a time of 25:40 on the 5k course.

Freshmen Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) and Kimberly Arlen (Manchester, N.H.) followed Lynch as they crossed at 27:01 and 28:14, respectively.

Sophomore Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) finished at 28:50 while classmate Karina Buruca (Cambridge, Mass.) came in right behind her at 28:51. Lesley junior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) crossed at 29:15 and sophomore Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) finished at 30:05.

The women's team finished in 28th place overall in field of 46 programs.

Senior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) paced the Lynx on the men's side as he covered the 8k course in 28:24 to place 67th overall in a field of 277 runners.

Freshman Gaelon Kolcyznski (Yarmouth, Maine) followed Barber and posted his second-best time of the season as he crossed at 32:30. Fellow rookie Leo Saporta (Newton, Mass.) rounded out the Lynx efforts on the day with a time of 34:32.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action next Saturday for the fall's final race when they travel to the NCAA Championships hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Memorial Park.
