Women's Cross Country Turns in Six Personal-Bests at James Early

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Lesley University women's cross country team combined to post six personal-best times in a fantastic showing at the annual James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park.

Freshman Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) paced the Lynx with a personal-best time of 20:29 while senior Emilia McGrath (Bowdoin, Maine) followed with a season-best mark of 21:32.

First year's Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) and Karina Buruca (Cambridge, Mass.) also ran their best times of 2015 as they crossed at 21:52 and 22:50, respectively.

Juniors Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) and Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) followed with a pair of personal-best times of their own, as Coppinger finished at 23:11 before Altschuler came in at 23:36.

Sophomore Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) posted a time of 24:16 while classmate Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) came in at 24:50. Senior Rachel Asam (Coeymans Hollow, N.Y.) wrapped Lesley's day up with a time of 27:39.

On the men's side, senior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) led the charge for the Lynx as he posted his best time ever at Stanley Park as he cross at 27:04. Barber cruised to a 21st place finish in a field of 373 runners as he came in 12-seconds earlier than at last year's event.

Sophomore Leo Saporta (Newton, Mass.) turned in the best time of his career as he covered the 8k course in 34:03, ten seconds ahead of junior Tyler Burns (Newtown, Pa.) who came in at 34:13 in his first collegiate race.

Freshman Gaelon Kolczynski (Yarmouth, Maine) also posted a season-best time for the Lynx as he finished at 34:32. Kolczynski's previous personal-best was 34:59 which he ran at UMass-Dartmouth on September 19th.

Junior Robbie Fisher (Boston, Mass.) rounded out the efforts of the men's side as he came in at 35:33.

The Lynx finished in 29th place as a team with 902 combined points.

The Lynx will be back in action this Friday when they head to nearby Franklin Park for the 10th Annual Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College. The women are slated to run at 4:00p while the men's race is set for a 4:45p start.
