Strong Day for Women's Cross Country at UMass-Dartmouth Invite

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – A trio of freshman all shaved more than a full minute of their time from the Roger Williams Invite on September 5th to pace the Lesley University women's cross country team today at the UMass-Dartmouth Invite.

Freshman Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) was the first Lesley finisher with a time of 21:06. Fellow rookies Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) and Kimberly Arlen (Manchester, N.H.) followed closely behind with times of 22:11 and 22:21, respectively.

Senior Emilia McGrath (Bowdoin, Maine) crossed the line at 22:41 for the Lynx while junior Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.), who shaved 24-seconds off her time from Roger Williams, came in at 23:12.

Sophomore Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) cut off 1:09 from her time at RWU when she crossed at 24:11 while junior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) shaved an incredible 2:11 off her previous time as she finished with a time of 24:57. Senior Rachel Asam (Coeymans Hollow, N.Y.), competing in her first race of the season, finished the day for the Lynx with a time of 26:30.

Senior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) led the Lynx men's cross country team at the on the Corsair's campus. Barber averaged a 5:27 mile and posted a complete time of 27:16 in the season's first 8k race.

The rest of the Lynx all had strong days as they all recorded personal-best times. Sophomore Robbie Fisher (Boston, Mass.) followed Barber with a time of 31:22 while junior Leo Saporta (Newton, Mass.) finished third for Lesley when he crossed at 34:05.

Rookie Gaelon Kolczynski (Yarmouth, Maine) finished the course in 34:59 before senior Kolin Perry (Reno, Nev.) wrapped things up for the Lynx with a time of 35:21.

Lesley will return to action next Saturday, September 26th when they travel to Chicopee, Mass. to compete in the Elms Invitational.
