Cross Country Opens 2015 at RWU Invite

BRISTOL, R.I. – The men's and women's cross country teams opened up their 2015 schedule on a bright, sunny day today at the Roger Williams Invitational at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. Lynx senior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) paced the Lynx as he finished 21st overall in a field of 144 runners with a time of 17:11.

Classmate Kolin Perry (Reno, Nev.) followed Barber on the men's side for the Lynx as he crossed at 21:20. Freshmen Leo Saporta (Newton, Mass.) and Gaelon Kolczynski (Yarmouth, Maine) followed closely behind with times of 21:25 and 21:30, respectively, while sophomore Robby Fisher (Boston, Mass.) rounded out Lesley's efforts with a time of 23:20.

Senior Emilia McGrath (Bowdoin, Maine) led the way for the Lynx on the women's side as she cruised to a time of 22:12, six seconds ahead of freshman Kelly Lynch (Topsham, Maine) who crossed at 22:18. Fellow first year Nicole Footer (Lewiston, Maine) was next to finish for Lesley, coming in at 23:33 while junior Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) followed at 23:38. Sophomore Karina Buruca (Cambridge, Mass.) turned in a time of 23:43 in her first race for the Lynx while freshman Kimberly Arlen (Manchester, N.H.) posted a time of 24:00.

Sophomore Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) finished at 24:13 and sophomore Sarah Beth Campisi (Saco, Maine) crossed at 25:20. Senior Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) finished things for the Lynx with a time of 26:08.

The Lynx will be back in action on Saturday, September 19th when they travel to the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth for the annual Corsair Invitational.
