Women's Cross Country Competes at James Early Invite

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Lesley University women's cross country team ran through some wet and cool conditions as they competed at the 19th Annual James Early Invitational hosted by Westfield State University this afternoon at Stanley Park. Freshman Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) led the Lynx with a time of 20:17 to finish 69th overall.

Senior Ariana Thomas (Shrewsbury, Vt.) followed as she crossed at 22:04. Junior Elena Pereira (Wilmington, Vt.) finished the 5k course in 22:31 before senior Megan Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) and sophomore Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) crossed with times of 23:29 and 23:47, respectively. Sophomore Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) came in at 23:47 to complete Lesley's day.

The Lynx finished in 29th of 44 teams on the day, as they earned 818 total points.

Lynx senior Kyle Casiglio (Shelton, Conn.) paced the Lesley runners with a 16th place finish in a field of 388 Division II and III runners. Casiglio covered the 8k course in 26:40. 

Junior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) followed Casiglio with a time of 27:16, which was good enough for 47th overall. 

Freshman Jacob Guay (South Portland, Maine) crossed the line at 29:40 while junior Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass.) finished with a time of 31:18. Senior Jordan Church (Garrison, N.Y.) rounded out Lesley's efforts with a time of 31:44. 

As a team, the Lynx finished 20th overall out of 37 teams as they earned 595 points. 

Lesley will return to action on Friday, October 17 as they head to the Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College.
