Strong Showing for Women's Cross Country at UNE Invite

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Lesley University freshman Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) was Lesley's top finisher as she placed 14th overall with a time of 20:06 at today's University of New England Invitational at Rotary Park in Biddeford, Maine. Junior Emilia McGrath (Bowdoin, Maine) followed Dimauro as she recorded a top-40 finish with a time of 21:26.

Classmate Elena Pereira (Wilmington, Vt.) crossed the line at 23:31 while senior Arianna Thomas (Shrewsbury, Vt.) crossed shortly behind with a time of 23:32. Fellow senior Megan Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) and sophomore Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) were not far behind for the Lynx, finishing at 23:36 and 23:37, respectively. Senior Caroline McCormack (Pembroke, Mass.) finished at 23:45.

Sophomore Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) and freshman Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) rounded out the Lesley runners with times of 24:38 and 24:47, respectively.

On the men's side, Lesley saw two runners place within the top-ten. Junior Ian Barber (Westhampton, Mass.) finished second overall in a field of 145 runners as he cruised to a time of 26:28 to place just behind winner CJ Vallie (Nashua, N.H.) of UNE, who crossed at 26:13. Lesley University senior Kyle Casiglio (Shelton, Conn.) finished seventh overall who came in at 26:46.

Junior Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass.) and senior Jordan Church (Garrison, N.Y.) both ran excellent races as they each set new personal bests. Tuccinardi crossed the line at 32:23 while Church followed closely behind at 32:38.

The Lynx will be idle next weekend and return to action on Saturday, September 27th when they travel to New England Collegiate Conference foe Elms College for the Blazer Invitational at 11:30a.
