Dimauro Leads Women's Cross Country in Season Opener

BOSTON – Lesley University freshman Alex Dimauro (Woburn, Mass.) started her collegiate career off in excellent fashion, racing to a seventh place finish in the sixth annual Fens Classic hosted by Emmanuel College. Dimauro ran to a time of 12:29 over the quick two-mile course though the Fens in Boston's Back Bay before finishing at Roberto Clemente Park as the Lynx placed sixth on the afternoon.

Junior Emilia McGrath (Bowdoin, Maine) followed Dimauro across the line with a top-30 finish of her own, posting a time of 13:19. Senior Arianna Thomas (Shrewsbury, Vt.) crossed the line at 14:41 while sophomore Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) shaved more than 20 seconds off her course time from last season, coming in at 14:49. Fellow sophomore Abbey Coppinger (Moultonborough, N.H.) followed at 14:51.

Seniors Caroline McCormack (Pembroke, Mass.) and Megan Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) crossed the finished at 15:19 and 15:21, respectively.

Freshman Sarah Campisi (Saco, Maine) finished her first collegiate race with a time of 15:39 while junior Rachel Asam (Coeymans Hollow, N.Y.) shadowed closely behind with a time of 15:43. Freshman Gabriela Downey (West Hartford, Conn.) rounded out Lesley's efforts on the afternoon with a time of 16:31.

On the men's side, senior Kyle Casiglio (Shelton, Conn.) opened the season with a strong performance, finishing seventh overall in a field of 98 runners with a time of 15:45 over the three mile course.

Freshman Jacob Guay (South Portland, Maine.) ran a strong race in his collegiate debut and followed Casiglio with a time of 17:38. Juniors Nick Tuccinardi (Melrose, Mass.) and Jordan Church (Garrison, N.Y.) finished at 19:16 and 19:57, respectively.

The Lynx will be back in action on Saturday, September 13th when they travel to Biddeford, Maine for the University of New England Invitational at Rotary Park.
