Bruning, Marden Sweep NECC Weekly Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Ciara Bruning (Centerville, Mass.) was named Rookie of the Week and junior Emily Marden (Fremont, Calif.) was honored as the Player of the Week as the duo swept the New England Collegiate Conference Weekly Awards for the week ending Sunday, October 26th. NECC Assistant Commissioner, Roger Crosley, made the announcement in the conference Weekly Report.

The combo helped lead the Lynx to a 3-0 record, including conference wins of Newbury College and Becker College. Lesley now sits at 14-3 overall and is 6-0 in the NECC.

NECC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emily Marden, Lesley University

(Jr., S - Fremont, Calif.)

Marden was excellent in a 3-0 week for the Lynx, setting up the offense as she averaged 9.64 assists/set in the three matches. The junior finished with 28 assists and 11 digs in a non-conference win over UMass-Dartmouth before doling out 43 helpers and 16 digs to go with five kills in a 3-2 win over Newbury. The junior wrapped up her week with a 35 assist, seven dig performance in a 3-0 win over Becker on Saturday.

NECC VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ciara Bruning, Lesley University

(First Year., OH - Centerville, Mass.)

Bruning was strong with her swing as she hit .364 in a 3-0 week for the Lynx. Bruning finished with eight kills in a non-conference 3-0 sweep of UMass-Dartmouth on Monday before coming through in the clutch with a 17 kill performance in a 3-2 win over Newbury College. The rookie finished the week with seven kills in a 3-0 win over Becker on Saturday to keep the Lynx unbeaten in NECC play.
