Marden, Abbruzzese Sweep NECC Weekly Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University junior Emily Marden (Fremont, Calif.) and freshman Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) have swept the New England Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards for the week ending Sunday, October 12th. Marden was honored with the Player of the Week award while Abbruzzese took home Rookie of the Week honors for the second time in 2014.

The Lynx will return home on Thursday, October 16th as they host Eastern Nazarene College in non-conference action at 8:00p at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols.

NECC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Emily Marden, Lesley University
(Jr., S - Fremont, Calif.)

Marden set up the offense in a 2-1 week for the Lynx. The junior recorded a pair of double-doubles against Daniel Webster and Emmanuel. On the week, Marden dished out 82 assists while chipping in with 33 digs on the defensive side.


NECC VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Anni Abbruzzese, Lesley University
(First Year, OH - Croton on Hudson, N.Y.)

Abbruzzese helped lead the Lynx to a 2-1 week, racking up 29 kills and 35 digs over the three matches. The freshman hit .250 from the floor on her way to nine kills in a 3-0 sweep over Newbury College while connecting for eight kills in a 3-0 win over Daniel Webster College.
