Women's Volleyball Slams Past DWC With Sweep

­CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) and Ciara Bruning (Centerville, Mass.) each recorded eight kills as the Lynx captured their third straight victory with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-20) sweep over New England Collegiate Conference foe Daniel Webster College tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. The win marks the first victory for the Lynx over the Eagles in their last seven matches, including postseason play, dating back to 2011.

Lesley improves to 8-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in NECC play while Daniel Webster falls to 2-12 on the year and 0-1 in the conference.

Lesley junior Jess Reynolds (Londonderry, N.H.) record five kills to help power the Lynx offense while classmate Emily Marden (Fremont, Calif.) dished out a match-high 22 assists while also leading all players with 12 digs. Junior Anthea Rathjens (Sudbury, Mass.) and senior Danielle Johnson (Waterford, Conn.) each finished with four kills.

Daniel Webster freshman Courtey Sheyenne-Warrington (Canton, Texas) led the Eagles with six kills and ten digs while junior Sharline Polycarpe (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped in with five kills for the visitors. Freshman Amanda Gendron (Mt. Vernon, N.H.) recorded three kills while classmate Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) led the guests with seven assists.

Lesley finished with a 36-18 advantage in total kills while swinging.150 on the evening while Daniel Webster hit .076. The Eagles held a slim 48-46 edge in digs and finished with five total blocks to Lesley's three.

Lesley will hit the road on Thursday, October 9th as they travel to Emmanuel College for a non-conference matchup with the Saints at 7:00p while Daniel Webster will continue NECC play on Saturday, October 11th as they host Newbury College at 1:00p.
