Women's Relay team 2nd at Regis College

MEET OVERVIEW:

Weston, MA- The Lesley's men and women's track and field teams competed in the GNAC & NECC Championship Meet at Regis College on Sunday, April 29. The Lynx women's team finished tied for sixth overall as they secured 16 points on the day. The women's best performance was in the 4x800m relay in which they came second. The members of that relay team were Nicole Footer, Anne Cooper, Alexandra Dimauro and Julia Fagundes. Lesley's men came last of eight in the scoring just one point, gained by Mike Fleming's sixth place finish in the long jump.

INSIDE THE EVENTS:

Women 100m Dash:  Emma De Oliver placed best on the Lynx side with a time of 14.81, good for a 20th place finish overall.  Rachel Piontkewicz was close behind in a time of 15.13, followed by Kelly Flynn claiming 27th overall with a time of 18.67.

Women 200m Dash: Lesley's four athletes in this event were all pitted together in heat one of the finals. Emma De Oliver placed best for her team again in a time of 31.34 for a 22nd place finish overall. Kayla Ranere was just behind in 24th in overall standings, with a time of 33:07. Caitlin Sugrue placed 25th, and Kelly Flynn finished 27th overall.

Women 400m Dash: Julia Fagundes lead the Lynx in 1:05.41 for a 10th place overall.  Kayla Ranere placed 16th overall with a time of 1:12.48, and Caitlin Sugrue finished just behind Ranere in a time of 1:15.31.

Women 1500m Run: Lesley had three competitors in the finals of this event. Alex DiMauro raced to a sixth-place finish in a time of 5:19.53. Dimauro secured one point for the Lynx for her finish. Nicole Footer finished just one place behind Dimauro in 5:38.63, and Anne Cooper was 12th in 5:45.56.

Women 5000m Run: Beth Caronna secured Lesley six points with a third-place finish in 22:15.45. Lauren Deschrouer placed sixth in a time of 29:21.46 which earned Lesley one point.

Women's 4x800m Relay: Lesley's team of Nicole Footer, Anne Cooper, Alex DiMauro and Julia Fagundes came second of five teams in a time of 10:58.89. The second-place finish added eight points to Lesley's overall tally.

Men 100m Dash: Mike Fleming finished 12th overall with a time of 12.20, Ethan Merians placed 20th overall, in 13.53, while Will Erwin finshed in 22nd overall in a time of 19.76.

Men 200m Dash: Mike Fleming raced to a 16th place finish out of 24 competitors.

Men Long Jump: Mike Fleming jumped 5.74 metres which gave him one point and a sixth place finish out of 15 participants.
