Miller Resets Lesley 5000m Bar Once Again at BU

BOSTON, Mass. – Lesley University senior Leah Miller (Thomaston, Conn.) snapped the Lynx 5000-meter once again this evening as she posted a time of 17:41.57 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University. This marks the second time this season the senior has reset the bar in the race after doing so at the Jay Carisella Invite on December 15th. Miller crushed her previous best, shaving a full 20-seconds off her 18:01.57 time, cruising to a top-35 finish in a field of Division I, II, and III runners.

Classmate Kat Vicino (Mattapoiset, Mass.) posted her strongest performance of the season in the 200-meter dash, crossing in 27.11. Vicino qualified for the NCAA Regionals on the Boston University track two weeks ago at the John Thomas Invite with a time of 27.17, trimming .06 off her previous top time this afternoon.

Senior Jaqueline Rosa (Wolcott, Conn.) also set a season-best time in the 1-mile run, coming in at 5:50.51. Her previous season-best was also set at the John Thomas Invite, when she cruised to a time of 5:50.76.

Freshman Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) and junior Caroline McCormack (Pembroke, Mass.) added to the list of season-bests, finishing the 3000-meter run in 3:53.82 and 3:54.85, respectively.

Lesley will have a weekend off before heading to Springfield College on Saturday, February 21st for NCAA New England Regionals.
