Miller Sets Lesley Record at Jay Carisella Invite

BOSTON, MASS. – Lesley University senior Leah Miller (Thomaston, Conn.) recorded a school record in the 5000-meter with a time of 18:01.11 at the Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern University this afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center. Miller's time was good enough to qualify her for the New England Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships, NCAA Division III New England Championships, and the ECAC Championships. The senior crushed her previous personal-best in the 5000-meter by 48-seconds.

This marks the second consecutive week Miller has set a Lesley program record after resetting the mark in the 3000-meter at the Harvard Open last weekend.

Classmate Jaqueline Rosa (Wolcott, Conn.) ran the 3000-meter in 11:23.65 while fellow senior Kat Vicino (Mattapoisset, Mass.)  finished the 200-meter dash in 28.04.

Sophomore Elena Periera (Wilmington, Vt.)  and freshman Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) rounded out the Lynx' efforts, completing the 1-mile run in 6:02.93 and 6:56.53, respectively.

The Lynx will return to the track after the Winter Break when they run at the Tufts Invitational on January 18th, 2014 at 10:00a.
