Miller Opens Track Season with a Top Performance

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –Lesley University senior Leah Miller (Thomaston, Conn.) picked up where she left off from the cross country season as she opened up the 2013-14 track season with a record setting performance. Miller broke the Lesley program record in the 3000-meter run with a first place finish posting a time of 10:23.32. The time qualifies the senior for both the ECAC Cross Country Championships and the NCAA Division III New England race.

Classmate Jackie Rosa (Wolcott, Conn.) followed up Miller with a 4th place finish as she came across in 11:42.36. Sophomore Emilia McGrath (Bowdoin, Me.) claimed 5th place as she crossed at 12:21.62 while Elena Pereira (Wilmington, Vt.) finished in sixth with a time of 12:59.25. Freshman Sydney Altschuler (Durham, Conn.) rounded out the Lynx in the 3000-meter, coming in at 13:47.10.

Junior Caroline McCormack (Pembroke, Mass.) posted a 6:45.73 time in the 1-mile run, good enough for 9th place, while senior Kat Vicino (Mattapoisset, Mass.) posting a 15th place finish in the 300-meter dash with a time of 46.00.

The Lynx will be back in action after the winter break when they travel to the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, January 18th.
