Tennis Celebrates Senior Night With A Win

 

CAMBRIDGE, MASS – Lesley University Women's Tennis celebrated Senior Night with an 8-1 win over Albertus Magnus College, Sunday night at the Nicholas Athletic Center in Cambridge, Mass.  With the win, the Lynx improve to 6-6 on the season and Albertus Magnus College drops to 5-6. 

Lesley University would like to thank senior, Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass) for contributing four years to the Women's Tennis Program,  the Athletic Department, and the community at Lesley University.  During her career, Caroline served as a two-year captain and led the Lynx to three straight NECC Championship matches.  Additionally, Kiddie earned NECC Rookie of the Year honors in 2014 and was named to the NECC First Team for Doubles and Singles three consecutive years. 

Lesley vs. Albertus Magnus (8-1)

The Lynx swept the doubles portion of the match and jumped out to 3-0 advantage over the Falcons.  No. 1 doubles, Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass) and Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass) started the scoring with an 8-1 win over Alicia Weaver and Izzy Sabino.  Maddie Abbott (Portland, Maine) and Jessica Russo (Watertown, Mass) followed Kiddie and Pereira's lead with an 8-3 victory in their matchup with Jess Coughlin and Kelsea Wildman.  Lesley continued to extend their lead with Sara Stanton (Manchester, Mass) and Rachel Mingingham's (Hopedale, Mass) win over Nallely Magana and Paige Williams.  

Lesley won five out of six singles matchups to secure the victory.  The results were the following:

Caroline Kiddie (Scitiuate, Mass) vs. Alicia Weaver (6-2), (6-0).  Maddie Abbott (Portland, Maine) vs. Jess Coughlin (4-6), (6-1), (6-3).  Theresa Pereira (Hopedale Mass) vs. Izzy Sabido (3-6), (6-3), (6-4).  Jessica Russo (Watertown, Mass) vs. Kelsea Wildeman (6-2), (6-3).  Sara Stanton (Manchester, Mass) vs. Nallely Magana (6-7), (6-7).  Mary Pulling (Whitman Hanson, Mass) vs. Lakhena Raith (6-3), (6-4).

For their next match, the Lynx will travel to Becker College on Saturday, October 14th at 12:00 pm.  Albertus Magnus will host Regis College on Saturday, October 14th at 1:00 pm.
