Regis Too Much for Women's Tennis

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women's tennis team fell to Regis College 9-0 this evening in New England Collegiate Conference tennis action on the Regis Courts. The loss drops the Lynx to 4-2 overall and an even 1-1 in conference matches while the Pride improve to 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in the NECC.

Lesley senior Carlyn Barker (Temecula, Calif.) and freshman Maddie Abbott (Portland, Maine) dropped an 8-4 decision to Regis senior Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) and freshman Ariana McCormack (Worcester, Mass.) in the top doubles match. The Pride followed with 8-3 victories in second and third doubles. Lynx juniors Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) fell to sophomore Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) and freshman Carly Scanlon (Canton, mass.) in the second flight before senior Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) and sophomore Jessica Russo (Watertown, Mass.) were defeated by junior Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and senior Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) in the third.

Regis senior Erica Murphy (Portsmouth, N.H.) downed Kiddie 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles while Lord defeated Abbott in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Jarvis outlasted Barker 6-2, 7-5 in the third singles match before Scanlon topped De Leon 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth match. DiPace and Rice wrapped up the evening with victories in the fifth and sixth singles matches.

Lesley will be back on the road on Thursday afternoon when they travel to Anna Maria College for a non-conference matchup at 3:00p.
