Women's Tennis Earns Second Straight Win Over Mt. Ida

NEWTON, Mass. – The Lesley University women's tennis team scored an 8-1 win over Mount Ida College in a non-conference match this afternoon at the MIC Tennis Courts. The win was the second in a row for the Lynx as they improve to 2-1 on the season while the Mustangs drop to 0-3 overall.

Lesley's top double pairing of juniors Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) earned an 8-6 decision over Mt. Ida junior Rebecca Levy (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Jenna Jarman (Auburn, N.Y.). Lynx senior Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) and sophomore Jessica Russo (Watertown, Mass.) followed with an 8-3 victory at second doubles.

Kiddie earned her second triumph of the day with a 6-2, 6-2 straight set decision over Levy while De Leon retired senior Katlyn Jesse (Marshfield, Mass.) 6-0, 6-2 in third singles. Russo blanked freshman Amanda Garner (Coventry, R.I.) 6-0, 6-0 before freshman Sara Stanton (Manchester, Mass.) topped junior Yuliana Chairez (Waltham, Mass.) 6-1, 6-3.

The Mustangs only had five active players, so the Lynx claimed forfeit victories at third doubles and number six singles.

Lesley will return to action on Monday when they travel to UMass Dartmouth for another non-conference match. First serve is set for 4:00p.
