Pereira, Abbott Sweep NECC Women's Tennis Weekly Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Lesley University junior Theresa Pereira (Hopedale, Mass.) and freshman Maddie Abbott (Portland, Maine) have swept the New England Collegiate Conference Weekly Awards this week. Pereira has been named NECC Player of the Week while Abbott was recognized as NECC Rookie of the Week.

The duo helped push the Lynx to a 1-1 record in their opening week of play while going a combined 2-1 in doubles play and 3-1 in singles action in their respective matches.

NECC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Theresa Pereira, Lesley (Jr., - Hopedale, Mass.) - Pereira enjoyed a hot start to the 2016 season as she earned a 2-0 record in singles and a 1-1 mark in doubles play. The junior registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles against Eastern Nazarene and a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 5 singles vs. Albertus Magnus. Pereira also teamed up to earn an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles at AMC.

NECC WOMEN'S TENNIS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Maddie Abbott, Lesley - (Fr., - Portland, Maine) - Abbott finished the week 1-1 in singles action while playing in the number two flight, while earning a win in her only doubles match of the week. The freshman earned a 6-4, 6-4 decision in singles play at Albertus Magnus while teaming up to earn an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles against Eastern Nazarene.
