Kiddie, De Leon Named Captains for 2016 Season

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University women's tennis coach Shawna Sarson has announced junior Caroline Kiddie (Scituate, Mass.) and senior Frances De Leon (Murrieta, Calif.) as team captains for the 2016 campaign.

"Both Caroline and Frances have showed what true leadership means," said Sarson. "Throughout the last year, they've help to build the team up and show the newer members what it is like to be a real teammate. As veteran leaders they have helped pave the way to the conference championship in each of the last two seasons. Each player brings a different skill set to the table and as a team, they will make one heck of a leadership duo. I'm excited for what the season brings and hope they can help lead the team to another conference championship appearance."

Kiddie, a two-time New England Collegiate Conference First Team selection and 2014 conference Rookie of the Year, excelled once again last season as she powered the Lynx with a 14-5 singles record, including a 9-1 mark in conference matches, while playing solely in the top flight. She also amassed a 10-7 doubles record.

De Leon, a 2013 NECC All-Conference First Team honoree, will return for her senior campaign after pickup up four wins in both singles and doubles play last season. De Leon is no stranger to leadership roles, as she is also the President of the Undergraduate Student Government here on campus.

The Lynx will open their 2016 campaign on Thursday, September 8th when they host Eastern Nazarene College at 7:30p in a non-conference affair.
