Women's Soccer Collects 9 All-Conference Selections

WATERVILLE, Maine – The North Atlantic Conference has announced the 2023 Women's Soccer All-Conference team and post-season awards
 
Natalie Aviolla of Husson and Audrey Fletcher of UMaine-Farmington were voted the Co-Players of the Year by the conference's head coaches. Isabella Danna of Lesley was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year award and newcomer Sage Henry of Lesley was named the Rookie of the Year honors.
 
Lindsey Russell of Husson earned the Women's Soccer Senior Scholar Athlete award.
 
Paul Vasconcelos of Lesley was voted by his peers as the NAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.
 
Aviolla, a junior forward, received the Player of the Year honor for the second consecutive season. Aviolla led the Eagles with 12 goals and five assists in conference. She led the NAC in goals and tied for the conference lead in assists. The reigning NAC player of the year led the league with 42 shots on goal and 29 points. In 2022, Aviolla, who was the 2021 NAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Year, became the first Husson player to claim women's soccer player of the year honors since 2006.

Fletcher, a senior midfielder, scored 13 goals overall and 10 in the conference with 32 points and 23 conference points. She was the leader in points for Farmington and is in the top five in the NAC in goals and points. Fletcher had 67 shots including 44 on net and also had a game-winner.
 
Danna, a junior defender for the Lynx, Danna played in 14 games for the Lynx, starting 13 of those contests. She led the defense to seven shutouts for the 2023 season with a 0.43 goals against average in conference play. That mark ranked second in the conference.
 
Henry, a first-year forward, played in 16 games for the Lynx, recording 10 goals and three assists on the season. She recorded a hat trick against Husson to send Lesley into the #1 seed. She is ranked sixth in the NAC for goals, and ninth for points. Henry is a two-time NAC Rookie of the Week selection. 
 
Russell, a senior midfielder, will graduate from Husson in May 2024 with a 3.98 GPA in exercise science, before pursuing her doctorate of physical therapy. Off the field, for four years, Russell has been on the occupational and physical therapy student club, completed projects on gross anatomy, exercise physiology and exercise training for health and performance. She's worked as a rehabilitation technician at Professional Physical Therapy in Salem, Mass. as well as an athletic peer mentor for two seasons. Russell has completed volunteer experience at Soaring Eagles Healthcare, Special Olympics, LifeBridge Shelter and My Brother's Table Soup Kitchen. On the field, Russell has been a team captain and a three-time NAC all-academic team selection. This season, Russell has tallied four goals and one assist, including a game-winning goal to help Husson secure the #2 seed in the NAC East Division. 
 
Vasconcelos led the Lynx to an 8-1 conference record and top seed in the NAC East Division. Overall, Lesley was 13-6 and won seven of the last nine games. Lesley recorded 10 shutouts in the 2023 season. Vasconcelos guided the Lynx to nine championships in the NECC during this tenure and this is
Lesley's first season in the NAC. This is his 17th season as head coach and after the 2023 season he has a career record of 238-72-20.
 
In addition to the major conference awards, 33 student-athletes were named to the All-Conference teams, and 14 individuals were named to the NAC Women's Soccer Sportsmanship Team. Selection to the Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees have positively affected the women's soccer culture and game environment by clearly demonstrating sportsmanship and integrity beyond the soccer rules and etiquette.
