THE LEAD – Lesley University posted its first win of the 2023 season with a 2-0 final vs. the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology in the annual "Cats Cup" contest. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

· Following a scoreless first half, the Lynx scored the first goal of the day early in the second half on a breakaway shot from Haile Carrillo-Hayes, assisted by Abby Kalou. 

· Lesley put another on the board in the 79th minute with an unassisted goal from defender Sacha Porter to give the hosts a two-goal cushion late in the action.

· The Lynx stayed strong on the defensive end as Lauren Lacy held the Leopards scoreless in net during the final 45 minutes to secure the win. Madison Reed shared the shutout making a pair of saves during the scoreless first half.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

· The goal for Carrillo-Hayes was the 11th of her career.
· The Lynx improve to 2-1 all-time in the Cats Cup series, an opening match-up against the two Greater Boston programs. 
· Lesley owned a 14-6 advantage in shots on the day and also commanded a 4-1 lead in corner kicks.
· WIT keeper Adrianna Arona made five saves on the afternoon in the loss and moves to 0-1 on the year.
