Rubin, Turnbull Selected for NEWISA Senior Bowl

Cambridge, Mass-- Senior captains Karlie Rubin (San Diego, CA) and Samantha Turnbull (Holtsville, NY) have both been selected to represent the Lesley University women's soccer team in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl. The game is slated to be played on Saturday, December 2nd at 1pm at Merrimack College.

Rubin led the team with 13 goals and was selected as the 2017 NECC Player of the Year and named to the All New-England Third Team. Turnbull captained a back line that led the conference in goals allowed and a record 13 shut outs.  She was named to the 2017 NECC All-Conference First Team and named the NECC Tournament MVP.  The pair has won three conference championships and made three NCAA tournament appearances.

"Both Karlie and Sam had tremendous careers here at Lesley, but their senior years stand out as their best performance," remarked head coach Paul Vasconcelos. "Sam is a powerful, athletic defender who was one of the main reasons for our success this season. Karlie is a skilled finisher; her work rate and leadership were invaluable this season. Their dedication and determination will be sorely missed on the field next year, but I am very glad that both Karlie and Sam get to represent our program one more time in the NEWISA Senior Bowl game," Vasconcelos concluded.
