Narby Earns First Collegiate Win in 4-0 Victory Over Nighthawks

Boston, MA- For the eleventh time this season, the Lesley University Women's Soccer team has shutout their opponents. The Lynx traveled to Newbury College for a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matchup and came out on top 4-0. Newbury falls to 2-14-1 overall, 1-5-1 in the conference. Lesley improves to 14-2-2 on the year and remains undefeated in the conference 7-0-0.

The first Lesley goal came from Sarah Pochobradsky (Rotterdam, N.Y.) with the assist from Xaelel Allen-Caballero (Henrietta, N.Y.). Pochobradsky received the ball from Allen-Caballero at the top corner of the box shooting it past the Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) for her third goal of the season. Five minutes later Karlie Rubin (San Diefo, Calif.) gave the Lynx a 2-0 advantage. Rubin reached the back of the net with a shot just outside the 18 yard mark.  Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, IL) collected her eighth goal on the year giving Lesley a 3-0 lead going into the half.

Lesley outshot the Nighthawks 30-4 allowing their opponent to only get two shots off per half compared to their 15 per half. The Lynx also led in corner kicks 7-0. Pochobradsky and Rubin both led the Lynx in shots with four apiece. Amanda Cardoso (Watertown, Mass.) and Jennifer McDonald (Magnolia, Texas) collected two shots a piece for the Nighthawks but it was the strong efforts by Jill Narby (Huntington, NY) that led to her first collegiate win.

The security goal came after a pair of shots led behind Cynthia Ramos (San Antonio, Texas) and Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas). However, it was the header by Ramos that found the back of the net securing the 4-0 shutout victory for the Lynx.

"Much of our success has been due to our back line and keepers. We stress defending and keeping the opponents out of our end and we have great depth in the defense. It enables us to play a multitude of players out of the back and attack teams," described head coach Paul Vasconcelos.

The Lynx are back in action this Wednesday October 25 as they thank the senior class for all their accomplishments to the women's soccer program. Lesley welcomes Becker College for a NECC matchup beginning at 8:00 p.m.
