Judges Blank Lynx, 3-0

Judges Blank Lynx, 3-0

Cambridge, MA—The Lesley University Women's soccer team hosted #19 Brandeis University in a non-conference battle at Edwards field.   Despite a strong showing from the Lynx in the second half, Brandeis kept them off the board blanking Lesley 3-0.

The judges wasted no time capitalizing on a corner kick opportunity the first time the ball entered the Lesley zone.   Brandeis scrapped a corner kick 3 minutes into the match that bounced through the goalie box and found the head of Daria Bakhtiari for the first goal of the match.

Just minutes later, Brandeis stole possession from the Lynx and struck again in the 39th minute of play.  Sam Volpe connected with Haliana Burhans to take a 2-0 lead just over 5 minutes into the game.  Lesley settled in and was able to muster a of couple shots on the Brandeis defensive line but the Judges kept the Lynx off the board.

Just as the 10 second countdown began to finish out the half, Willa Molho showed some impressive foot skills dribbling to the middle of the field and blasted one past the diving Lesley goaltender, Brittley Gahn (Bellevue, WA).

Lesley came out ready to compete in the second half and paved a more even-keeled playing field for Brandeis.   The Lynx defense stepped up with a couple great plays by sophomore defender Hope Seasholes (Tuscon, AZ) and senior goalie Lily Donovan (Newburyport, MA) to keep the attacking Judges from netting another goal.  Lesley was unable to get on the board before the time expired giving Brandeis the 3-0 victory.

Lesley returns to NECC Conference play when they host Bay Path University on Saturday at 6pm.
