Lynx Open Conference Play with 2-0 Win

Lynx Open Conference Play with 2-0 Win

Cambridge, Mass—Lesley University women's soccer hosted Southern Vermont University to open up their NECC Conference schedule.  The Lynx continued their hot streak securing the 2-0 victory at the end of regulation.

Most of the first half both teams shared possession of the ball and were unable to attempt many shots.  Lesley capitalized on a corner kick in the thirty-second minute of play when Senior Samantha Turnbull netted the first goal for the Lynx.

Senior Karlie Rubin sent the corner kick into the middle of the box that managed to skip through the cluster of players to find Turnbull's head for the goal.

With a minute remaining in the first half Senior Karlie Rubin added an insurance goal for the Lynx, her seventh on the year.   Rubin was parked just outside of the box when a deflected ball landed right in her wheel house.  She was able to one time strike the ball and hook it into the bottom corner of the net.

Lesley lead the Mountaineers in shots 15-4 and corners 5-2.  Southern Vermont goalie Melissa Mascari had a tremendous game with many diving saves to keep the score at only 2-0.

The Lynx next travel to Regis College for a non-conference match up on Tuesday September 19, while the Mountaineers head to Clark University .
