Lynx Fall to Top Ranked MIT

Cambridge, MASS- Lesley University Women's Soccer fell to MIT 5-2 in a tough non-conference battle at Edwards Field.  The Lynx came out strong scoring the first goal of the match and continued to put solid pressure on MIT's defense for much of the first half.  The first half was a tough battle on both sides, ending the first 45 minutes at an even 1-1 score.

Lesley struck first in the 15th minute when Junior forward Xaelel Allen-Caballero chipped a shot over the goalie from the right side of the box to land in the left corner of the goal.  MIT was quick to come back to even the score in the 21st minute when Montana Reilly chased down a loose ball on the right wing and sent a great pass to Allie Hrabchak who was able to one time it passed the diving Lesley Goalie.

"Tonight we played one of the top teams in the country and I'm super happy with how we played," said head coach Paul Vasconcelos. "A great first half... I'm very excited for the program going forward. MIT is a great program and we hung with them for a real long time," he continued.

MIT came out strong in the second half outshooting the Lynx 15-4. They put pressure on the Lesley defense right away scoring two goals within the first ten minutes.  A great effort by Lesley Goalie Brittley Gaan all game, but in the second half specifically made many diving saves.  MIT found the back of the net twice more off two header's to give the Engineers a 5-1 lead.  The Lynx kept battling and putting pressure on MIT and scored once more off a head from Junior Jordan Mitchell.  Allen-Caballero sent a ball from the right wing into the box, where Mitchell was able to head the loose ball into the net.

The Lynx square up next Wednesday September 6 when they host Simmons College at 8pm.
