Women's Soccer Earns the Two-Seed in the NECC Championship Tournament

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Lesley University will aim to capture their fifth straight New England Collegiate Conference title when they kick-off postseason play this Saturday at home on Edward Field at 7:30p. The Lynx have wrapped up the second seed and will play host to seventh-seeded Newbury College.

The Lynx wrapped up regular season play with a 5-1 win over Becker College on Wednesday evening to improve to 13-4-2 overall and 8-1 in NECC matchups. Lesley downed Newbury 5-1 in the only meeting between the two schools on Saturday, October 22nd.

Elms College earned the top-seed in the tournament with a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play. The Lynx and the Blazers have met in the Conference Final in each of the last three seasons, with Lesley coming out victorious in each of those meetings. Elms delivered Lesley their only blemish in NEC action, defeating the Lynx 1-0 on September 24th. The Blazers will host eighth seeded Mitchell College in the first round on Saturday.

Earning the third seed through a tiebreaker was Regis College after finishing the season 5-3-1 in the NECC. The Pride will host sixth seeded Becker College.

The final host for the first round will be Southern Vermont College (5-3-1) who earned the fourth seed in the NECC tournament. The Mountaineers will host Bay Path University who finished fifth in the regular season.

The winners of the first round games will advance to the semifinals Wednesday, November 2nd, which will be played at the highest remaining seeds. The semifinal winners will then face off in the NECC Championship on Saturday, November 5th at the highest remaining seed.    

First Round – Saturday, October 29th

Game 1: #5 Bay Path University @ #4 Southern Vermont College 12:00 p.m.

Game 2: #6 Becker College @ #3 Regis College 5:00 p.m.

Game 3: #7 Newbury College @ #2 Lesley University 7:30 p.m.

Game 4: #8 Mitchell College @ #1 Elms College 3:30 p.m.

Semifinals – Wednesday, November 2nd
