Women's Soccer Honored with NSCAA Team Academic Award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the 14th time in the program's history, the Lesley University women's soccer team has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with the Team Academic Award.

The team compiled an impressive 3.55 grade point average over the course of the 2015-16 academic year to earn the recognition for the fifth straight season. The team was also recognized at the Lesley Athletics Banquet last May for having the highest team GPA amongst the department.

"It is a great honor to once again receive the NSCAA Team Academic Award," said Vasconcelos. "Our student-athletes truly understand the importance of academics and consistently demonstrate their dedication to their education. Our staff is extremely proud of our young women on the soccer field, in the community, and especially in the classroom."

A total of 892 collegiate programs (315 men, 577 women) from throughout the United States earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 academic year. To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
