CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University sophomore Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, Ill.) connected on a penalty kick in the 50^th minute of play to even the score at 1-1, and that's how the game would end as the Lynx and Tufts University played to an even 1-1 draw.  The tie shifts the Lynx to 3-1-2 on the season while the Jumbos move to 2-0-1 overall.

Tufts scored the lone goal of the opening half in the 39^th minute of action when senior Jess Capone (Schenectady, N.Y.) sent a lead pass behind the Lesley backline and found a streaking Robin Estus (Houston, Texas) who sent a sliding shot inside the right side of the goal for her first marker of the season.

Lesley's best opportunity of the first came in the 15^th minute. Senior Julie Essick (Boerne, Texas) sent a free kick into the Jumbos 18-yard box and sophomore Samantha Bessey (Algonquin, Ill.) poked at the loose ball, but Tufts keeper Emily Bowers (Needham, Mass.) made the save falling to her right.

After the break, Lesley would draw a foul inside the Tufts box leading to a penalty kick. Bessey beat Bowers with a shot to the left side for her fourth tally of the season to even the score at 1-1.

Lesley thought they took a 2-1 advantage in the 83^rd minute of play when Bessey passed a ball to classmate Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas) at the top of the Tufts box. Mitchell beat Bowers and drilled a shot into the back of the net, but it was disallowed after a controversial offsides call.

Regulation would end and the two teams would head into overtime. The momentum of the first overtime period belonged to the Jumbos as they outshot their hosts 4-0. Capone nearly ended it in the 98^th minute as she escaped behind the Lesley defense and sent a shot past the charging goalkeeper, Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) but her bid would trickle just to the right of the cage.

The Lynx would swing momentum in their favor in the second extra time period and nearly connected for the game-winner when sophomore Xaelel Allen-Caballero (Henrietta, N.Y.) ripped a curling drive that sailed just over the cross bar.

Tufts held a slim 8-5 advantage in shots while holding a 10-0 edge in opportunities from the corner. Donovan made three saves in between the pipes for the hosts while Bowers made a pair of stops for the Jumbos.

The Lynx will return to the pitch and open their New England Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday when they travel to Southern Vermont College for a 1:00p start. Tufts will open a six-game homestand on Saturday and play host to Bates College at 12:00p.
