Women's Soccer Ready to Battle Becker in NECC Semifinals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After receiving a bye through the Quarterfinals, the top-seeded Lesley University women's soccer will start their quest for a fourth consecutive New England Collegiate Conference Championship tonight when they play host to fourth-seeded Becker College.

The other NECC Semifinal match will feature third-seeded Southern Vermont College at second-seeded Elms College. The Mountaineers advanced to the Semi's following a 4-0 win over Newbury College while the Blazers made it through with a 2-0 victory over Regis College on Tuesday.

Scouting Becker
The Hawks sprinted by No. 5 seed Mitchell College 4-1 in a Quarterfinal match played at Becker on Tuesday. Becker sophomore Alison Mosdale netted a hat-trick for the hosts and now has a conference-leading 20 goals on the season. The Hawks have displayed a high-powered offense all season long as they led the NECC with 68 goals in 18 regular season matches. Freshman keeper Jordyn Martel has received the bulk of work in between the pipes for the Hawks as she went 10-3-0 on the season with a .710 save percentage and 1.72 goals-against-average.

Scouting Lesley
The Lynx pushed their NECC regular season unbeaten match streak to 61 following their perfect 9-0 campaign. Two-time Rookie of the Week Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas) boasts a team-high eight goals and ten assists while junior Julie Essick (Boerne, Texas) added six goals and seven assists in 18 matches. Senior Hayley Wirth (Escondido, Calif.) anchors a Lesley backline that surrendered just one goal in NECC play this season. Sophomore Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) has been excellent in goal for the hosts as she finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-1-0 with a miniscule 0.21 goals-against-average.

Previous Matchup
After scoring two goals in the first half, the Lynx exploded for four markers in the second as they downed Becker 6-1 on October 28th. Freshmen Emma Callender (Philomath, Ore.) and Xaelel Allen-Caballero (Henrietta, N.Y.) each deposited two goals for the hosts while Maria Colon netted the only tally for the Hawks.

The Lynx are 4-0-0 all-time against the Hawks in NECC Tournament play.

What's At Stake
The winner will earn a spot in the NECC Championship that will take place on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
