Mitchell Carries Women's Soccer to Win at Regis

WESTON, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Jordan Mitchell (Sachse, Texas) scored a goal and added two assists as the Lynx shutout Regis College 3-0 in a New England Collegiate Conference matinee on Columbus Day at Regis Stadium. The victory, Lesley's fourth shutout win in a row, moved the Lynx to 9-5-0 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 in the NECC while the Pride drop to 4-7-2 on the year and 2-1-1 in conference matches.

Lesley improves to 55-0-1 against NECC teams in the regular season since their last loss against a conference opponent on October 25, 2008.

Mitchell helped get the Lynx on the board early as she ripped a cross into the box to teammate Julie Essick (Boerne, Texas) who headed the crossing attempt off the cross bar and past Pride goalkeeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.) for a tally just 2:50 into the contest.

16 minutes later, Essick connected with Mitchell as the junior lofted a cross from the left side to Mitchell who settled the ball and roped an attempt into the bottom right of the net.

Regis had an opportunity to cut the 2-0 deficit in half after a Lesley foul when freshman defender Jenna Novio (Rockland, Mass.) took a free kick chance. Novio kicked the ball high in the air into the box where Michaela Bouvette (Mattapoiset, Mass.) fired a one-timer that missed just wide off the mark. Bouvette's shot was the Pride's only opportunity of the contest as they couldn't produce any shots in the second half.

Mitchell added her fourth point of the contest after she passed the ball into the box to a waiting Isabella Vidana (San Marcos, Calif.), who headed the ball home past an outstretched Gagnon for the Lynx third score of the game.

Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) won her fifth game of the season as she played the entire first half in net while sophomore Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) played the second half of the contest. Rachel Gagnon made 10 saves for the Pride in net.

The Pride return to the pitch on Saturday, October 17th as they travel to NECC foe Becker for a 12:00p date with the Hawks while the Lynx travel to Wheelock on Saturday for a noon game with the Wildcats.
