Wirth, Vidana Named 2015 Women's Soccer Captains

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Lesley University Women's Soccer Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos  announced today that Hayley Wirth (Escondido, Calif.) and Isabella Vidana (San Marcos, Calif.) have been named the co-captains for the 2015 season.

The decision was made from a process involving Lesley alumni, the Lynx coaching staff, and a vote by the team players.

"Bella is a wonderful person who has always led by example. She is a born leader and was a unanimous choice," said Vasconcelos. "Hayley has progressed into one of the best holding mids in the region; she comes to compete and always leads by example. We are very excited for the both of them."

Vidana earned the start in 8 out of 21 matches she played in and posted 8 goals and an assist from the attacking mid position.

Wirth started in 20 out of 21 games during the 2014 campaign while earning a goal and an assist.

"These captains have a big task in front of them as we graduate a very talented group of seniors who will no doubt leave a void on our roster. With that said we do have a great senior class and expect some of our other seniors to step up and have a voice."

Lesley will look to capture their fourth consecutive New England Collegiate Conference title in 2015 after winning their third this past fall with a 3-0 win over Elms College.

The Lynx 2015 season begins Friday, September 1st with a non-conference game against Eastern Nazarene College.
