Landerholm Named NECC Player of the Year, 7 Others Honored

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second consecutive season, Lesley University senior Hannah Landerholm (Edmonds, Wash.) has been named New England Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Year. Landerholm, who was also placed on the NECC All-Conference First Team, led a group of eight Lynx who were honored by the conference with postseason awards, including head coach Paul Vasconcelos who was named NECC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career. Vasconcelos now holds an impeccable 122-30-11 record during his eighth years at the helm of the Lynx.

Joining Landerholm on the First Team were backline partners Emily Johnston (Goldens Bridge, N.Y.) and Lindsey Bos (Valencia, Calif.), midfielders Jasmine Sanchez (Chino, Calif.) and Hayley Wirth (Escondido, Calif.), and forward Alexis Giusti (Yuba City, Calif.). Junior goalkeeper Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Landerholm anchored a defensive unit that allowed just one goal and 19 shots in nine conference games while also chipping in on the offensive side of the ball with three goals and two assists in NECC action. Overall, the senior posted seven goals and three assists on the season.

Johnson posted three goals and as assist in her senior season while Bos, who was also named NECC Tournament MVP on Saturday, finished the year with seven assists before adding five more in the postseason.

Giusti led the team and the NECC in goals (13), assists (10), and points (36) in her senior campaign. The forward, who has been named to the conference First Team three years running, had an eleven-match point streak during the season.

Berard was excellent in between the pipes for the Lynx, compiling a miniscule 0.26 GAA to go with her 14-2-0 record and six shutouts.

The Lynx wrapped up their third consecutive NECC Championship with a 3-0 win over Elms College this past Saturday and await word on their NCAA Matchup which will be announced on Monday.
