CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  Lesley University completed their sixth consecutive unbeaten season in New England Collegiate Conference play tonight as they topped Newbury College 8-0  on a cool Halloween Night at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. With the win, the Lynx improve to 16-3-0 on the year and a perfect 9-0-0 in the conference while the Nighthawks drop to 4-10-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NECC. The Lynx have wrapped up the top seed in next week's NECC Championship.

Lesley senior Jasmine Sanchez (Chino, Calif.) got the scoring started just 1:12 into the match. The midfielder sent a one-time volley from a step outside the box into the lower right corner of the goal to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Just over ten minutes later, classmate Cameron Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) gave the Lynx a two goal advantage when she finished a feed from Marysol Flores (Pico Rivera, Calif.) at the goal line. The tally was Brown's sixth of the season.

The Lynx kept the pressure on after the break as Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.) rifled a one-timer to finish a beautiful feed from across the box from junior Melinda Robinson (Plano, Texas) to put Lesley up 3-0 just three minutes into the second stanza.

Thirteen minutes later the duo hooked up for another goal as a Halen free kick found the foot of Robinson who buried her fifth goal of the season.

Juniors Selena Quezada (West Covina, Calif.), Isabella Vidana (San Marcos, Calif.), senior Hannah Landerholm (Edmonds, Wash.) wrapped up Lesley's scoring efforts as they all added tallies in the second half. Sophomore Julie Essick (Boerne, Texas) was credited with three assists on the night.

Newbury College goalkeeper Elizabeth Fox (Orono, Maine) made nine stops in the loss while Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) and Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) split time in the second straight shutout for the Lynx.

Lesley has secured a bye in the first round of the NECC Championship while Newbury will wait for the conference schedule to be played out for their seeding.
