Women's Soccer Soars Over Hawks

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Lesley University women's soccer team extended their New England Collegiate Conference regular season unbeaten streak to 50 matches this afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Becker College at Alumni Field. The victory marked Lesley's eighth in a row and lifts the Lynx record to 15-3 (8-0 NECC) while the Hawks sink to 7-8-2 (3-3-2 NECC).

Lesley jumped on the board with 16:58 remaining in the first half when senior Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) blasted a shot into the top left corner of Hawks from ten yards out. Junior Selena Quezada (West Covina, Calif.) was credited with the assist on the play.

The Lynx increased their lead to 2-0 with 11:45 left in the half when Giusti fed classmate Marysol Flores (Pico Rivera, Calif.), who promptly launched a shot past the dive of Becker goalkeeper Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) for her fifth tally of the season. After registering a goal and as assist, Giusti has now recorded points in 11 straight matches.

Lesley added to their lead with 13:15 remaining in regulation when sophomore Julie Essick (Boerne, Texas) took advantage of a turnover in front of the Hawks net, ripping a shot over the head of Rose for the 3-0 cushion.

Lesley goalkeeper Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) made one save to earn her sixth shutout of the season. Kaitlyn Rose suffered the loss after making 11 saves in net for the Hawks.
