Women's Soccer Sprints Past Bay Path with Strong First Half

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Lesley University's powerful offense continued to find the back of the net as they ran away with a 5-0 win over Bay Path University on a Columbus Day matinee in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action. The Lynx, who have outscored their opponents 20-0 during their current four-match win streak, had five different players score in the match as they improve to 11-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in NECC play. Lesley has extended their NECC regular season unbeaten streak to an unprecedented 46 matches. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 2-10 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.

The Lynx scored their first goal in the seventh minute after a cross from the right side by senior midfielder Marysol Flores (Pico Rivera, Calif.) to senior forward Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) who netted the ball. Flores would again time a perfect cross at 15:27 finding senior Cameron Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) scoring the second goal for Lesley. Twenty seconds later, Guisti would jump right on the whistle and find Brown again for her second tally to quickly jump out to a 3-0 lead. Giusti has now tallied 17 points in the last seven matches.

Coming off the bench, junior midfielder Melinda Robinson (Plano, Texas) would net a fourth goal at 35:33 on a feed from classmate Selena Quezada (West Covina, Calif.) had the assist.

Sophomore defender Julie Essick (Boerne, Texas) netted the fifth and final goal in the 57th minute of the second half, after taking the ball up the field on a solo run.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alma Rizvani (Prospect, Conn.) faced 37 shots, 19 on goal, and was credited with 14 saves. Lynx starter Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) and freshman Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) split time in goal in the fourth straight shutout for the visitors.

Lesley will travel to Regis, with Lesley being the host, on Saturday, October 18th for a 1:30 p.m. match while Bay Path will travel to Becker on Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. start.
