Women's Soccer Falls at Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior Sapir Edalati (Great Neck, N.Y.) deposited what turned into the game-winning goal in the 79th minute as the Judges topped the Lynx this afternoon in non-conference action. With the setback, Lesley falls to 5-2-0 on the season while the Judges, who were voted No. 7 in New England in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) New England Regional poll, move to 6-1-0 with their sixth straight victory.

Edalati one-timed a corner kick off the foot of junior Holly Szafran (Homewood, Ala.) and sent a shot into the upper netting of the goal for her fifth tally of the season.

Brandeis control the majority of play as they held a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks and outshot the Lynx by a 19-4 margin.

Lesley junior Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) made five stops in goal for the visitors before freshman Lilly Donovan (Newburyport, Mass.) relieved her in the second half, made four saves and was charged with the loss.

Brandeis keeper Michelle Savuto (Ridgewood, N.J.) was credited with one save in her second shutout of the season as she improves to 3-1-0 in 2014.

Lesley, who are winners of two of their last three matches, will return home to Cambridge and host Emerson College in the battle for the Charles River Cup on Tuesday, September 23rd at 8:00p. Brandeis will travel to Wellesley College on Tuesday at 4:00p.
