CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University senior Hannah Landerholm (Edmonds, Wash.) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 75^th minute of play to help lead the Lynx to a 2-1 victory over Cambridge neighbor, No. 15 MIT tonight at Roberts Field. The win marks the first time the Lynx have defeated the Engineers after holding an 0-2-2 record over the previous four meetings. The teams had played to consecutive scoreless ties in 2012 and 2013.

Lesley now stands at 4-1-0 on the season while MIT, who is currently ranked 15^th in the country and second in New England in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, suffers their second straight loss and falls to 4-2-0 on the year.

Landerholm was able to get her head on a bouncing ball following a corner kick from sophomore Lindsey Bos (Valencia, Calif.) for her third tally of the season.

MIT got their offense going early as sophomore Kathleen Chen (Chappaqua, N.Y.) put the Engineers on the board first with her first marker of the season following a shot by senior Ambika Krishnamachar (Darrien, Conn.) just 57-seconds into the first half that deflected off a diving Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) in the Lynx' box. The Engineers attempted to add to its lead minutes later with attempts from Krishnamachar and senior Michelle Battipaglia (Katonah, N.Y.),but Berard turned away both shots.

Lesley evened the score at 28:17 following a red card that was issued to Chen, as Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.) scored on a penalty kick. The goal was Halen's first of the season. The Lynx tried to double its lead on a corner kick at 38:00, Bos was unable to connect with her teammates.

Berard  turned away seven shots, including four attempts in the second half while MIT sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Ullmann (Princeton, N.J.) finished the match with three saves.

The hosts outshot the Lynx by an 11-8 margin on the night while Lesley held a slim 4-3 advantage on corner kick attempts.

The Lynx will look to make it two in a row when they head to Simmons College on Wednesday, September 17^th at 7:30p.
