Halen, Giusti, Landerholm Named Women's Soccer Captains

Cambridge, Mass – Lesley University head women's soccer coach Paul Vasconcelos has announced the team captains for the 2014 season. Senior forward Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.) comes back for another year as captain after losing her 2013 season to a season ending surgery. Fellow seniors, forward Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) and central midfielder Hannah Landerholm (Edmonds, Wash.) will join Halen as the leaders of the Lynx for the 2014 campaign.

"These three young women are great student-athletes who have experienced great success here," said Vasconcelos. "Our senior class is filled with great leaders and we know that will play a huge part in our success this upcoming season and we are excited to see Ronnie, Hannah, and Lexi in these roles. We are very happy for them and their families as it is an honor to be a captain here at Lesley."

In her time at Lesley, Halen has been a 3-time All-Conference selection and named NECC Player of the Year in 2012. She is also the all-time leader in assists at Lesley. "Ronnie has demonstrated time and time again that the program is greater than any one individual player," said the eighth year head coach. "She will work well with the attributes of the other captains."

Giusti is a two-time NECC All-Conference selection and was an NSCAA All-New England selection in 2013. "Lexi just wants team success," said Vasconcelos. "She knows what it takes to win and works hard every year."

Landerholm has cemented herself as one of the best midfielders in the region, earning her 2013 NECC Player of The Year and NSCAA All-New England team selections last season. "Hannah has been a big part of our success and we are looking forward to watching her in a leadership role."

"We are really looking forward to a productive relationship between the coaching staff, captains, and team," said Vasconcelos of the 2014 captains. "I am confident that Ronnie, Lexi, and Hannah will lead by example as we expect only the best from all our players and coaches."
