Vidana Named Wooden Citizenship Cup Semi-Finalist

Vidana Named Wooden Citizenship Cup Semi-Finalist

ATLANTA, Ga. – Lesley University women's soccer sophomore Isabella Vidana (San Marcos, Calif.) was named a semi-finalist for the Coach John Wooden Citizenship Cup Award. The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup is presented to two distinguished athletes – one collegiate and one professional – who have made the greatest difference in the lives of others. The recipients are athletes of excellence both on and off the field, role models both as performers and persons.

Vidana was named one of 31 semi-finalists chosen by the selection committee, and one of only two NCAA Division III student-athletes to be honored with the distinction. Nominations were made from all over the country, covering all three NCAA divisions as well athletes with professional stature.

Vidana has made a big impact both on the soccer field and in the community since stepping onto the Lesley campus in the fall of 2012. This past summer, the sophomore joined TOMS® on a trip to Guatemala to help put shoes on the young children of several different communities.

Five finalists were also selected and will be invited to the Athletes for a Better World Wooden Cup Banquet in Atlanta later this spring. Please see the complete list of semi-finalists and finalists below.

The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup selection process is managed by the Board of Directors of Athletes for a Better World with the assistance of the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup Advisory

Committee chaired by former University of Georgia Athletic Director Vincent Dooley. Also sitting on the committee is Hall of Fame baseball player Cal Ripken Jr., Hall of Fame quarterback Archie Manning, former Olympic Gold Medalists Kathy Johnson Clarke and Donna de Varona, among others who have made a dramatic impact in the world of athletics, both on the field and off the field.
