Offense Carries Women's Soccer Past Becker on Senior Night

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University junior Hanna Landerholm (Edmonds, Wash.) netted the first hat trick of her career to lead the Lynx to a 10-0 win over Becker College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action tonight at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. The Lynx improve to 15-1-1 on the year and a perfect 8-0-0 in conference play while the Hawks fall to 3-13-0 overall and 2-6-0 in NECC action.

The Lynx also honored their five members of the Class of 2014 with a post-game ceremony to celebrate the four-year careers of Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.), Taylor Smith (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.), Casey Decareau (Haverhill, Mass.), and Victoria Ellis (Laguna Beach, Calif.). The four have compiled a 55-14-7 career record and have appeared in the NECC Championship game in each of their three seasons, including an NECC title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012.

The Lynx raced out of the gate as Landerholm scored all three of her goals in the first seven minutes of the game, her first two coming in the first 2:50. The junior midfielder now has ten goals on the year.

In the ninth minute, classmate Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) added her ninth tally of season off a feed from freshman Cassidy Hopkins (Porter, Tx.). Hopkins then added a goal of her own in the 19th minute to give the Lynx a 5-0 edge.

Lesley would add three consecutive goals in a span of 1:14 as junior Cameron Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) Smith and Decareau each found the back of the net. Apgar added the final tally of the half for the Lynx on a fantastic individual effort blasting a ball inside the right side post to give Lesley a 9-0 lead at the half.

Junior Christina Ogunti (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) added the only mark of the second half as Lesley rolled to a 10-0 victory.

The Lynx have outscored their opponents 23-0 in their last four matches.

Becker goalkeeper Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) made seven stops for Hawks in between the pipes.

At halftime, the Lynx honored head coach Paul Vasconcelos for earning his 100th career win in a 7-0 win over Wheelock College on Saturday.

Lesley will close out their regular season on Saturday, October 26th when they travel to Newbury College for a 12:00p start. The Hawks will also conclude their regular season on Saturday when they will travel to Nashua, N.H. for a 1:00p contest with Daniel Webster College.
