FITCHBURG, Mass. – Junior midfielder Alexis Giusti (Meridien, Calif.) notched her second goal and what was the game-winning overtime marker in the 95th minute of play to lift Lesley University over Fitchburg State, 2-1 in non-conference women's soccer action this afternoon at Elliot Field.

In the extra frame, Lesley completed the comeback at the 94:44 mark when Giusti received a through ball from classmate Cameron Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) and tucked the ball inside the near post for her fourth goal on the year.

Following a scoreless first half, the Falcons opened the scoring in the 83rd minute of play as freshman Carolyn Ciccatelli (Rochester, Mass.) collected a corner kick off the foot of sophomore Jacqueline Walker (Derry, N.H.) and blasted a shot inside the left post for her first collegiate marker to make the score 1-0.

With time winding down, Lesley knotted the score (1-1) at the 87:25 mark when Giusti settled a loose ball in front of the net and buried a shot into the back of the net for her team-leading sixth tally of the season to force the overtime period. Junior Hannah Landerholm (Edmonds, Wash.) was credited with the assist.

In the opening stanza, both teams combined for 13 shots on frame, with Jillian Kirouac (Leominster, Mass.) posting seven first half saves for the Falcons, while junior Emileigh Lloyd (Middletown, Penn.) stopped six shots for the Lynx to keep the game scoreless after 35 minutes of play.

Fitchburg State threatened in the 24th minute of play as senior forward Kimberly Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Ciccatelli registered a pair of point blank shots that Lloyd was able to turn away, while senior Casey Decareau (Haverhill, Mass.) had the Lynx best scoring opportunity at the 16:21 mark as she headed a ball towards goal that Kirouac denied.

Throughout the match, Lesley held a 24-14 advantage in shots, while limiting the Falcons to just one corner kick. In goal, Kirouac finished the afternoon with 13 saves in the complete game effort for Fitchburg State, while sophomore Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) made three stops in 49:44 minutes of action for the Lynx.

Fitchburg State (5-7, 1-2 MASCAC) will be back in action on Saturday as it visits the Bears of Bridgewater State University at 12 p.m. Lesley University (11-1-1, 4-0-0 NECC) will travel to Regis College on Saturday for a contest starting at 1 p.m.
