Offense Erupts as Women's Soccer Tames Wildcats

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Six different players found the back of the net as the Lesley University women's soccer team blew past the Bay Path College Wildcats tonight to notch their second New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) win of the season in an impressive 9-0 fashion. The Lynx improve to 9-1-1 on the year and a perfect 2-0 in conference play while the Wildcats fall to 3-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NECC. The win marks Lesley 36th consecutive NECC regular season win.

The Lynx got busy early, finding the back of the net three times in the first ten minutes. Sophomore midfielder Hayley Wirth (Escondido, Calif.) opened the scoring in the second minute with her first of the year while junior Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) added another just six minutes later. After assisting on the first two goals, senior Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.) added a tally of her own in the tenth minute to give Lesley a commanding 3-0 lead.

Wirth quickly added her second mark of the season in the 16th minute while sophomore Samantha Rapant (Pittsfield, Mass.) closed out the scoring in the first half with her second goal of the season, sending the Lynx into the break with a 5-0 edge.

Lesley would add two more goals in the second half of play as junior Cameron Brown (Marshfield, Mass.) netted her second of the season and junior Jasmine Sanchez (Chino, Calif.) scored the first goal of her Lesley career.

Bay Path would avoid the shutout as freshman Alva Rizvani (Prospect, Calif.) scored in the 68th minute. Seniors Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) and Rachael Barber (Lynn, Mass.) were credited with assists on the play.

Lesley outshot the visitors 32-2 on the night and held an 8-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Shianna Silvia (Warwick, R.I.) and Rizvani combined to make 15 saves for the Wildcats while Lesley keeper Emileigh Lloyd (Middletown, Pa.) did not make a stop in earning her sixth win of the season.

Both teams will be back in NECC action on Saturday. The Lynx will travel to Nashua, N.H. for a square-off with Daniel Webster College at 3:00p while the Wildcats will play host to Wheelock College. Kick-off for that match is set for 1:30p.
