CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite playing twenty extra minutes, neither team could find the back of the net as the #22 nationally ranked MIT Engineers and Lesley University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie this afternoon at Edwards Field at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols. With the result, the Engineers move to 4-1-1 on the year while the Lynx remain unbeaten at 6-0-1. This marked the second consecutive year the two teams finished with a scoreless tie.

A balanced contest, Lesley outshot MIT by a slim 15-14 margin while two teams each had three chances from the corner. Engineer goalkeeper freshman Lauren Ullmann (Princeton, N.J.) was credited for ten saves while sophomore Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) was forced to make seven stops in between the pipes for the Lynx.

In 37^th minute, Lesley appeared to take a 1-0 lead when senior Veronica Halen (San Diego, Calif.) knocked in a bouncing ball in front of Ullman, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside call.

MIT found themselves on the same side of an offside call early in the second half when sophomore Morgan Moroi (New Albany, Oh.) gained control of a free ball following an MIT corner kick and beat Berard, but the linesman had the flag up to keep the game knotted at 0-0.

In the 66^th minute, the Engineers nearly pulled ahead again when senior Samantha Fleischmann's (Eastchester, N.Y.)  free kick from 25 yards out just skimmed the crossbar over the top-left corner giving the Lynx a goal kick.

The Lynx had the first scoring opportunity in the initial overtime period when junior Marysol Flores (Pico Rivera, Calif.) took a lead pass in the box from Halen, but Ullman make a sliding save to interrupt the rush.

Just moments later, MIT junior Ambika Krishnamachar (Darien, Conn.) blasted a ball from 35 yards on the left side, but Berard was able to jump and tip it off the crossbar to make the save.

Lesley outshot MIT 3-2 in the final overtime period, but was unable to break through as the teams settled for a tie.

Lesley will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 21^st when they open up New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play as they host Southern Vermont College. MIT will be back in action on Tuesday Sep. 17 when they travel to Roger Williams University for a non-conference matchup.
